Free parking in two unpaved, unmarked lots across Route 108 from each other at the south end of Smuggler's Notch, just north of the Stowe gondola. Trail starts from the east lot. Kiosk is on the trail, in the woods. |

There is some terrific rock step and waterbar work on this trail, which makes it drain quickly. |

You bet! Four-legged friends, you're supposed to act like you're under the control of your two-legged friends at all times. We saw none of the former, many of the latter. |

Our original plan for a Mt. Mansfield hike was thwarted by conditions of zero visibility and thunderstorms on the way. Our consolation prize was this nice, short (+/- 1 mile RT), swim-worthy, geologically interesting hike find. It would also be a great place to cool off after an east side of Mansfield hike. |
