Comments
Comments: Very well consolidated, used microspikes from car to summit, some drifting above treeline but snowshoes stayed on the pack. Better conditions here than on the smuggler's notch side for summiting the Chin (4,393'). Though Sunset ridge is alpine and exposed much of the way,it is to windward and doesn't have a monster snowpack like the L.T./Profanity route.
Winds mid 30mph range, higher on Sunset than the summit ridge. 28F on the Chin @ 2p.m. Saw no other hikers, but plenty of tracks.
