Comments
Comments: We took the uneventful trail up to Shrewsbury, then on the return at 3000’ we contoured over in great woods to the col west of Smith. Here we stumbled upon a blazed trail that seemed to curve around the summit cone at 3000’ but didn’t go up, so we whacked the last 200’ to the jar, with many old and new names in the book, always fun to read through. The trail didn’t help us to get back where we started, but it was a quick whack to get back to the logging road section of Black Swamp trail. We never encountered the swamp, but had a view of it from Shrewsbury summit and it looked quite small and dry for a swamp. We did cross its entrance and exit stream, which was easier than expected.
