 | Comments: |
A nice hike to a fairly remote place. Trail is largely on woods roads with good footing and easy grades. Once above the first stream crossing (bridged) the trail starts to get muddy; there are numerous stretches of significant mud, some with herd path developing around but generally you can carefully walk through poking around for rocks and branches under the mud. The loop takes you by burling camp which is worth a visit for the adjacent waterfall and past the Beaver Meadow Lodge. For the adventurous, there are connecting trails to the long trail along the ridgeline above - Chilcot pass and Whiteface trails which are a bit steeper. The trail itself skirts around the edges of the actual meadow with no real views of the meadow itself. However, you can head upstream at the main stream crossing between the beaver Meadow Lodge and the loop trail junction about 50 yards to a terrific view of the meadow which is an extensive stretch of grassland with views up to the surrounding peaks. |
