 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Burroughs lot was plowed out, but Forest City was not. Burroughs was full when I arrived at 10:30am but I was able to park within 10 minutes when two cars of skiers left. Roadside parking is no longer an option: as of last summer, both sides of Camels Hump Road have been aggressively posted as "tow zones". I'm told its being enforced. |

 | Comments: |
Camels Hump solo via Burroughs. About 8" fresh, heavy mashed potatoes, minimally tracked out. Postholes (clearly the work of flatlanders/ pretend Vermonters) were especially gratuitous on the upper parts of the mountain, but all was hammered flat by many snowshoes coming up from behind and should be tracked firm by the end of the day. Lots of ski tracks at lower elevation. Rocketed down on the fresh soft snow in no time. Fine freezing mist on the upper parts of the mountain secondary to a temperature inversion (low 30s at top, high 20s at trailhead). Socked in views but no wind. Canadian beach weather; hung out for a bit. Summit rocks were covered in light rime, not icy. Someone left a "kindness" rock on the summit--carried it down, cosigned it to the bottom of a landfill with extreme prejudice, grinch grin/ not sorry (please folks, Leave No Trace). |
