All of the trails on the West side of Mansfield require a saw to remove blowdowns: The Subway, North Canyon Extension, North Canyon, Canyon, and the Lake Trail. |

The Black flies were horrendous. I had a headnet and bug dope, naturally. |

It was a hot day on Mt. Mansfield. Bagging all of the lesser trails on the West Side of Mansfield was a very difficult hike. All of them (The Subway, North Canyon Extension, North Canyon, Canyon, Lake Tr) have caves and lemon squeezers that require crawling. I found it particularly difficult to find the north end of the North Canyon Extension Trail, so I hiked south on the LT until I got to the North Canyon/North Canyon Extension junction and then hiked north along the North Canyon Extension so I could finish the trail. |
