| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
It looks like lower west bolton parking is back, upper still isn't. I was going for miles so I parked at the LT lot on 2 |

| Water Crossing Notes: |
The crossing closest to the road on Duck Brook was mad washed out. I made myself a human bridge across it and then threw my leg to where my hands were because I couldn't see where the rocks/bank were with all the leaves. This was fun because the risk was low, however would be tough in high water. |

Some of the switchback blazing on the way up to Stimson was weird. I had to really look for where they were on account of signing turns being a bit unusual.
Generally pretty moderate, less those switchbacks up a steep band on Stimson. Those were tricky in athleticism and navigation- the leaves were no help at all. There was a group of fellow smikes students coming down and slipping pretty hard on the leaves- which is why i opted to go down the road before i even got out there. After I got really up on the ridge though, marked pretty well with the crossing of a VAST trail, it was chiller- plus the leafless trees lended to some nice views of Bald Hill and Camel's Hump!
After a gradual jaunt, I came down Duck Brook. This was my 6th time on the old LT, and the first time it wasn't under 3-inches of water. However... you can tell that had just stopped because the mud was aching to come off the mountain and I slipped several times. As a whole, I can tell how poorly the last 3 years have damaged this trail. It's going to need a lot of TLC if it is to survive how poorly it drains :(
After my creative crossing at the end of Duck Brook, I just ran down the road which was lovely. It was my first time on since it washed out, and it felt soft even under foot. Even though its open now, I just wouldn't feel comfortable bringing a van up there and parking it on the side of the road like we used to- the locals have been through enough with this road that I'd hate to be part of the problem going forwards. It's a great run though! |
