 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Very limited parking (if it can even be called that). The winter gate is at the last house on the road. A huge snowbank has been plowed right in front of the gate. With banks on either side, I pulled my truck as far off the road as possible into the right bank. I didn't see any No Parking signs but I'm not sure if what I did was kosher either. I was the only car but if others showed up, it would get very crowded very fast. |

 | Comments: |
Lincoln Gap road had 2-3 inches of packed snow from snowmobiles, skiers and sledders.
At the L.T., I followed a single set of tracks, of someone headed southbound, to the jct with the Battell trail where tons of tracks came up from the west (apparently the approach of choice). At the shelter, I donned microspikes for the steep climb (and kept them on for the rest of the day). Snow on the trail varied from 3-5 inches the whole way, except near the summit where drifts from 8-10 inches were common. Traction definitely recommended as the fluffy snow hid patches of ice. |
