Comments
Comments: Red Trail to West Peak Trail to the west peak is a good route to climb without so much of a hint of the nearby ski area. A few (hazy today) viewpoints from near the Burke West Peak summit (and a shelter). Good (but hazy) views from the Burke Mountain fire tower, as well as the near summit vistas. Watched assembly of new windmill.

Opted to descend via the ski trails for the sake of time - mistake. Firstly, the bike trails are off limits to hikers (and appropriately, the hiking trails are off limits to bikers). Secondly, the grass and weeds, at least on the Willougby, were upwards of 5 to 6 feet tall in places, hiding rocks, holes, and waterbars. I wouldn't recommend descending the upper mountain ski trails until preseason mowing starts.
