Woodford trail (Reservoir trail), Atwood trail
A pleasant woods hike, in good condition during mud season. The Woodford State Park gate is closed but the park can still be used. Limited parking at the gate right at Rt 9. A short walk to the reservoir and trails. Trails are in good shape for mid-April mud season hike, several adaptations have been built in the wetter sections to facilitate passage and limit trail creep. Highlights include the Atwood loop, scenic streams & reservoir, mixed forests, a small section passes through the Aiken wilderness area. Only person on the trail was a friendly park maintenance worker, made for a very quiet and pleasant alternative to busy peaks with crumbly muddy trails. |
