Comments
Comments: Nice if hazy clouds, clearly an unambitious walk (too lazy to go to Sterling Pond) to top of Notch from Stowe side. Road surface packed by snowmobiles from Jeff side; barebooting is fine, although micros help on some icy areas up higher.
Note here is to describe relatively new boardwalk that starts at parking; sign says 'to Long trail S', although it starts to N. Take it--it goes ~200 yds along marshy area, and ends right at a beaver dam, with a view to Notch. Also, look slightly to R-at ~20 yds for a beaver lodge. There are info signs that give natural history of the area.
A plain trail then leads to road--then go 50 yds N and across road to continue on Long trail S (white blazes) to Taft and summit.
