| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Parked across the street from the Inn at Long Trail. A Monday, so a good amount of room. |
| Surface Conditions: |
Dry Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable |
| Recommended Equipment: |
| Water Crossing Notes: |
Only very minor brook crossings. No problems. |
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
At least 4 or 5 major blowdowns along the AT. A couple can be ducked under but at least 3 have turned into go-arounds. |
| Dog-Related Notes: |
A notice at the kiosk warns dog owners to keep the dog on a leash unless the dog is knowledgeable about porcupines. There is an increased number of porcupines in the area as evidence by extensive damage to Pico Camp and also the Pico summit ski area building where the porcupines have chewed up any wood with a trace of salty sweat in it. |
| Bugs: |
Mosquitoes, black flies and deer flies are a nuisance unless you DEET up and keep moving. The summit of Killington had black flies but the breeze kept them mostly at bay. |

| Comments: |
Nice hike from VT Route 4 (Inn at Long Trail) to Killington Peak and Pico Peak and back. About 13 miles total. Beautiful weather and a great day. Lone Wolf finished up his VT 4000 footers.
