 | Comments: |
Waterbury trail is pretty bumpy up to the waterfall, postholing and sledding tracks mainly. Went in the a.m. when it was frozen and microspiked to here, then snowshoes. Path out to White Rock (3,194') was unbroken with a supportive crust under a few inches fresh snow. Good blue paint blazes help otherwise tricky trail-finding winding thru snowy firs. Nice wind scoured alpine area and rocky scramble to summit, unusual above treeline conditions for this elevation. No sign of traffic or trail-breaking from the Middlesex side, but the junction is a windy spot, could be a trail down there ! Lower Waterbury trail was sloppy in the early afternoon. |
