 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Shoulder on Route 5A plowed with room for perhaps 3 vehicles. |
 | Surface Conditions: |
Snow - Packed Powder/Loose Granular, Snow - Unpacked Powder, Snow - Drifts |
 | Recommended Equipment: |
Snowshoes |
 | Water Crossing Notes: |
Snowbridged, logbridged, or stepover. |
 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
A few moderate sized step over blowdowns frozen into the snowpack. Upper elevations could use a few more blazes and some brushing for easier winter use. |
 | Dog-Related Notes: |
May be a good idea to keep dogs close if venturing out to the west outlooks, as the downhill slope and sheer dropoff could result in a slide and fall if running. |

 | Comments: |
Mt. Pisgah above Willoughby Gap. Broke out the trail from Route 5A to the summit. About 6" of fluffy powder in the lower elevations, drifting to knee deep up high in a few places, on top of a somewhat breakable crust. Some postholes hiding underneath, but hopefully my snowshoe track will set up over them in the coming days. No sign of any use on the other trails. Beautiful area, intend to return on a day with better views. |
