Compared to our outing the previous day Middlebury Gap to Lincoln Gap this day was the opposite! No leaf covered mud, not in the clouds and no wind! Lincoln Gap to App Gap the trail had much less mud and it was frozen. A dusting of snow did not make the rock and ledge slippery, little to no ice--really lucky. oh oh and the views we could see far and wide all the day. Lincoln Gap will definitely be gated and shut on Nov 1st there was a notice at the trailhead at the top of the gate that all cars must be removed by Oct 31st. Straight up from Lincoln Gap to Mt. Abraham and what a super open summit and it was my first time here (and the last peak I need to complete my NEHH & NE67 lists). Liz and I skipped along and enjoy every minute on the trail. We stopped at every viewpoint. This wraps up our south to north 2018 Long Trail section hike project, about a 100 miles left to go to reach Canada! |
