Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Cleared parking lot at the trailhead. Camel's Hump Road was fine for driving.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Snow - Trace/Minimal Depth, Snow - Packed Powder/Loose Granular
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment: Snowshoes
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Largely snowed over or easily crossed small streams. Nice water sources for dogs.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: A couple of blowdowns; the more significant one being about the first 20 minutes into the hike - just have to navigate over and between some of the tree branches. Nothing hazardous or complex.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Saw 5 dogs in all with different hikers. Really well-behaved and happy. One dog had snow booties on - good thing as we did see intermittent blood on trail most all the way up that we reckoned were from a dog's paws.
Bugs
Bugs: None seen.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: None.

Comments
Comments: Began at 10 a.m. Plenty of space in parking lot - on a Saturday. We were pleasantly surprised to find 3-4 inches of fresh powder on a well-used trail. Chilly and windy, though a mild 34 degrees F. Recommend snowshoes; however, all the hikers we saw had microspikes (and couple commented that though they were not postholing, they were slipping quite a bit) and one person was bare-booting. Snow was heavy on the trees and lots of rime, so branches were low-lying and we had to duck a lot and got poked in the face by the branches. A defined trail all the way to the summit. From Hut Clearing to the top there were drifts and a choppy trail in places. The wind was blustery at the geological marker so we did not spend too much time on a largely snowy-rimey summit. Surroundings were magnificent and magical - very overcast, foggy, surreal. Fun hike down on a well-groomed trail.
