|
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
The state park website recommended this counterclockwise loop for the views it provides along the Long Trail. It was spectacular, as was the bare summit. Trai, intersections are well signed. No signs at the summit but it turns out that the Long Trail is the only trail the crosses the summit and all of the intersections are below the summit. |
|
| Dog-Related Notes: |
We saw several medium to large size dogs along the trail and at the summit. |
|
| Bugs: |
Pesky black flies along the trails. Aggressive bees at the summit! Also at the summit, small round bugs on the rocks that quickly transfer to your clothing. |
|
| Lost and Found: |

| Comments: |
There is apparently the remnants of a WWII plane crash alongside the Alpine Trail. Google for more info.
This has risen to one of my favorite 4000 footers. To round off the day, drive to Montpelier and watch the sunset over Camel's Hump from the tower in Hubbard Park. Beautiful! |
