Overall, the trail is in good shape. At present, there is 2" of wet snow at the trailhead and 4-5" on the summit. In places, particularly above about 2500', there is ice beneath the snow. The ice can be crusty and grippable or just plain slippery black ice. We ascended with out microspikes, yet descended with them. By the time we made it down to the old logging road section of the trail just 2, 3 hours after we started, it had become a running, muddy stream. Magnificent summit that feels quite alpine. Incredible views. Hope to get up there again. |
