 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
As stated also by earlier poster, this lot is OK to park in - very small trail marker on VT 102. I took the bridge over from Colebrook, then, headed to 102 north a few hundred yards to the industrial area/sand pit parking lot on the left. VERY active heavy equipment area. No shade for the car - everything seemed to melt inside my car the short time I was hiking. |

 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
No issues, though, I found the trailhead hard-to-find. Glad I had a signal at at the trailhead as, once I got into the sand pit parking lot, I wasn't sure where the actual trailhead was located. I was able to google the the info - the ATV trail at the back left side leads to the actual sign-in/trailhead kiosk up a few hundred yards. The trail goes through pasture-like scrub at the beginning and is kind of overgrown without markings. On the way out, the equipment was taking apart wire spools into a dumpster - very loud - I was afraid my car was in the crusher!!! Had to drive out of the lot around some of the other equipment as the entryway was blocked by heavy equipment. |

Excellent hike - was SO excited to hike it as I have driven by it many times. The firetower was EXTREMELY tall - maybe 6 flights and NO guy wires????? Very scary to climb - I couldn't look down. Cab is open and unlocked, but, graffiti-filled. Not many views as it was too hazy. Still, fun hike!!!! Neat foundation for cabin nearby and neat chimney still standing. |
