Over in VT on business and stayed an extra day to hike - I've been stymied in 4 prior Camel's Hump attempts due to rain and blizzards so this was the day - weather unfortunately did not cooperate - waited around at trailhead for some clearing which didn't happen so put on the rain gear and headed up. Rain all the way to the summit which was in the clouds with some wind and soaking mist so no views. Wet trail all the way with lots of running water when you hit the steeper rocky section heading up to the clearing. However, rocks weren't slick. Started encountering mud down lower on the way back down due to all the rain. Given next couple of days of sun everything should dry out nicely. Met lots of folks out today hiking in the rain along with a couple of soaked canines. Skies were clearing heading down and met several groups heading up. Unfortunately the summit remained in the clouds so no views for anyone today, |
