| Comments: |
I put on snowshoes early thinking the trail would get soft, but it never got that soft even in the direct sun. It seems there is a hard layer just under the surface that is holding up well. Not many on the trails to start, with the other hiker bare booting to the cliffs, then putting on snowshoes. Saw at least 12-15 hikers going up on my way down though with footwear from bare boots to light traction to snowshoes. They didn't appear to be making too much of a mess of the trail on the way up, but that might have changed later in the day. The summit had lots of rime on it making for quite the "spring" scene today. 20 degrees with 16 mph avg wind gusting at 25 mph for a wind chill of about 6 |
