 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Lincoln Gap Road is closed over the Gap. Park along side the road at the end of the maintained part. The walk to Gap is about 1.3 miles. |

|
 | Recommended Equipment: |
Snowshoes, Light Traction |
|
 | Water Crossing Notes: |
None |
|
 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
In great shape |
|
 | Dog-Related Notes: |
Excellent conditions for dogs - harder work along sections less packed down. Pooches may be distracted by coyotes (I followed tracks for several miles) or moose (fresh tracks in the area Nancy Hanks Peak). |
|
 | Bugs: |
|
|
 | Lost and Found: |
FOUND: Ski-helmet + goggles on the road-walk. I thought the best chance of getting it back to its rightful owner would be to leave it on a traffic sign at the beginning of the unmaintained part of the road. |

 | Comments: |
Road is well-packed by skiers and it is an easy bare-booting walk.
From the Gap to Mt. Abraham is well-traveled. Light traction or bare-booting.
I switched to snowshoes after Mt. Abraham and kept them on until returning to the same point. Mt. Abraham to Lincoln Peak was not broken out. Lincoln Peak to Nancy Hanks Peak was broken out by skiers. Nancy Hanks Peak to Mt. Ellen was not broken out.
For anyone interested: I checked with the ski-resorts with respect to uphill travel. It appears that they are in the process of establishing trails for up-hill travel to Lincoln Peak and Mt. Ellen. However, to use these these trails require purchase of a full lift ticket. |
