Comments
Comments: Camel's Hump is a classic Vermont hike and the warm sunny perfect autumn day made this the place to be. The approach from the East via the Monroe trail is not strenuous but just a nice hike. The final push up the hump on the Long trail is a bit of a challenge for a novice hiker but a good introduction to above tree line hiking. The view from the summit is spectacular. The Promised Land of Vermont in every direction!

Be sure to check out the wreckage of a plane that crashed just below the summit in 1944. It's on a side path off the Alpine trail. Also don't miss the memorial plaque in memory of the nine men who lost their lives in the crash. It's opposite the info kiosk at the beginning of the Monroe trail. And be sure to check out the Monroe Cemetery too.
