 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Both Pinnacle parking lot and Huger/Waterbury trail parking lot very plowed. Access to Pinnacle parking lot not an issue. Did road walk from Hunger/Waterbury trailhead back to Pinnacle lot (Sweet/Waterworks, Stowe Hollow Rd, Upper Hollow Road). Sweet/Waterworks approaching very muddy, rest pretty good. |
|
 | Surface Conditions: |
Wet Trail, Snow - Unpacked Powder, Wet/Slippery Rock, Snow - Drifts, Ice - Breakable Crust, Mud - Minor/Avoidable, Standing/Running Water on Trail |
|
 | Recommended Equipment: |
Snowshoes, Light Traction, Goggles, Traction |
|
 | Water Crossing Notes: |
Minimal rock hopping. Intact snow bridges at higher elevation. |
|
 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Snowblower (just kidding). Awesome snow along ridge. No evident blowdowns. Blazes between Hogback and Hunger tough in some wooded sections. Not really evident at all along most of ridge, but understandable due to lack of trees and snow cover. Cairns? |
|
 | Dog-Related Notes: |
Dog snowshoes for ridge. Booties for sharp ice, packed snow. |

 | Comments: |
Awesome if you like trudging through powder above Pinnacle and along Skyline.
Stowe Pinnacle Trail (not Meadow) = mud and then packed Highway needing spikes, Hogback trail to Skyline Trail= snowshoed to Hogback over post-holes, Hogback via Skyline to Hunger = snowshoed fresh power (DRIFTS), Mt. Hunger to Sweet Road/Waterworks via Waterbury trail = difficult to find in sleet conditions at summit - but packed Highway requiring spikes. |
