Comments
Comments: Hiked southbound on the AT from Route 341 in Kent, CT to the CT-NY border and back. Absolutely no need for winter traction- no snow anywhere to be found; couple minimal patches of ice on rocks that were probably gone by afternoon. Seen on the trail: no other hikers, a downy woodpecker, 3 deer, and a photogenic bald eagle at the confluence of the Ten Mile and Housatonic Rivers! This was a challenging 23-mile round-trip- rocky, narrow, and uneven in places, with difficult climbs back up Schaghticoke Mtn. and Mt. Algo. However, the scenery was surprisingly good.
