Tunxis Trail including Tipping Rock Loop, Shelter Four Trail, Valley Overlook Trail
Started at Hotchkiss road and up to route 44 with some loops to get the trails mentioned above and then returned to Hotchkiss road. Could not have done any significant hiking without micro spikes. The Tipping Rock Loop, Valley Overlook Trail, and The main trail from Southeast road up Garrett Mountain would have been almost impossible without spikes. Some areas of nothing but ice. Not much changed as the day warmed and I made my way back south later in the day, especially in the shaded areas. Maybe it will improve with the warm days predicted. I would still recommend having the micro spikes. |
