We went in from Salisbury, CT on Mt Riga Rd and Mt Washington Rd. They are narrow and steep roads to get there. Once you get to the MA/CT boundary marker you will see a parking area on the right and one on the left. The red trail is well blazed. If you get lost on it, that would be because you wanted to. :) We followed it to the summit of Round Mountain, nice little rock scramble going up with views on the top. We continued over to Mount Frissell in Massachusetts. Getting the CT high point is about 300 yards from the summit of Frissell and the tri-point for NY-CT-MA isn't too much further down the trail. Seemed strange to summit a mountain in MA, then hike down the slope to the high point in CT. Then again the mountains didn't choose where the boundaries went.
We posted a video on YouTube for anyone interested in seeing what the hike is like, just click the link... |
