Hiking Trail Conditions Report
Peaks
Peaks Mt. Moosilauke, NH
Trails
Trails: Tunnel Brook Trail, Benton Trail, Carriage Road, Glencliff Trail
Date of Hike
Date of Hike: Friday, September 28, 2012
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Empty lot at Glencliff; not surprising, given the weather. I walked up through the Sanitorium looking for a shortcut to the southern end of Tunnel Brook. Follow the road toward the main building, turn left uphill through the only big parking lot, and climb over the locked gate onto the gravel service road; that'll take you up to the dam and save a few minutes.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Wet Trail
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: All easy, except a 50' boggy section by the ponds on Tunnel Brook. A pretty major herd path Round it is growing.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Other than that one boggy section, there's just one other big blowdown on Tunnel Brook, with a train also growing around it.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Too long, too wet, too cold, and way too windy on the ridge. The kids stayed home today with Mon!

Comments
Comments: This is a beautiful loop, one of my faves. It was pretty nasty on the ridge, but that just added to the beauty, though the view of the Adirondacks and everything else was obscured. I've climbed Moosilauke dozens of times, and this was the first time I can remember not seeing another Roberson all day! Wah Hoo Wah!
