Comments
Comments: I skied to Zealand Hut. If you value your skis don't ski Zealand Rd. It is well plowed and I scratched up my bottoms pretty badly. A shame. The Zealand trail is well packed and great for skiing it both in and out. On the way back I took the snowmobile trail to the right to avoid schussing down the steep section of the road to the bridge. The snowmobile trail takes you down the gentle way. Anyway, you could pull a sled and put your skis in it and only use it on Zealand trail. Twin Way is also well packed. I had trouble past the cliff view. Earlier hikers had veered off to the right past the sign, where you come down on the level part over an exposed rock ledge. The tendency is to turn right but stay straight ahead and not take any of the open areas to the right. I made a circle and was glad to have the hut mistress point me the right way. After that the trail is well enough defined to follow up Zeacliff and on to Mt. Zealand. A couple of hikers headed to the Bonds. Overall, a great day for a hike. Limited views of the Presis were awesome today.
