| Water Crossing Notes: |
The crossing of the Israel River on the Castle Trail and Israel Ridge Path and the crossing of Cascade Brook on Israel Ridge Path were rock hoppable including some submerged rocks. The wet rocks were not slippery however caution is advised. The water levels were somewhat high with a strong flow. |

| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Trails were in good condition. Only one minor tree fall across the path on the Castle Trail which was easily stepped over. The wood ladders on the Israel Ridge Path are in good condition. |

| Comments: |
Waited until after the equinox to begin the hike to qualify as a fall trip and to allow the clouds to clear out. The trailways were obvious. The trails were dry except a few moistened areas on Castle Trail which didn't deserve to be called a muddy pathway. Took the short side trips on The Link to view first cascade and the Emerald Trail to eat at Emerald Bluff which overlooks Cascade Ravine. The Israel Ridge Path is a scenic trail to the northern Presidentials. The Castellated Ridge is impressive but open to the steady winds which were blowing today. Saw the chipmunk at the Mt Jefferson summit for the second time this year. |
