Comments
Comments: Crawford Path to Mizpah Cut-off remains packed for micro-spikes. Mizpah Cut-off has a little more powder and a few drifts, but micro-spikes are OK. There are several crawl-under blowdowns on MC. Webster Cliff Trail from hut to Pierce summit needs micro-spikes. Immediately north of the Pierce summit, the Crawford Path toward Eisenhower is hard to find and follow. It has deep snow, so we switched to snowshoes. Three of us broke it out, but it's probably drifted back in. There are various icy areas which the snowshoes handled OK, but it's tricky, especially in wind. There are some blowdowns. The upper section of Edmands Path is deep snow, heavily drifted, and it is hard to follow. We broke it out, but it also might be drifted back in. Just keep in mind that the trail tends to go fairly straight and to drop very gradually as it descends in a westerly direction along the north side of Eisenhower. We opted to go this way to avoid having to retrace our steps back to Pierce through the wind on the Crawford Path. The Crawford Path along the ridge and the Edmands Path both have blowdowns, but they're circumnavigable. The unplowed Mt Clinton Rd has not seen snow machine traffic, and it has 4-6" powder over packed snow, so we left the snowshoes on all the way back to the Highland Center.
