Date of Hike
Date of Hike: Saturday, September 15, 2012
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Plenty of space in the lot. Traffic was backed up past Story Land at the junction of NH16 and US302
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable, Mud - Significant, Standing/Running Water on Trail
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: All five of the larger crossings were easy to rock hop. Heading north along the Isolation Tr, the first crossing has a steep drop to the river where the bank has washed out. An easier approach is just upstream.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: There were the usual wilderness blowdowns along the way but none were too difficult. Although the blazes are faint the trail is easy to follow. There is no sign for the Mt Isolation Spur but two for the Davis Path at the junction. Most bog bridges were in rough shape.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Marlie and Brewer had a blast. Easy trail for dogs. Plenty of water and mud. We must have missed svense somewhere along the way.
Bugs
Bugs: None.

Comments
Comments: Cloudy and breezy out with a few sprinkles at times, then warm and sunny at others. The leaves are changing with lots of yellows and intermittent reds making it start to feel like fall. We met a couple hikers that are close to completing the NH 4ks and another who finished today on Isolation. Congratulations! I'm not sure of the rules but we saw numerous evidence of wood camp fires in the Dry River Wilderness.
