High winds kept us low and were evident as we drove through the Notch. A surprizing amount of new snow satrting at 2-3 inches down below to 6-10 inches up higher with some drifts.. These were perfect snowshoe conditions..viewpoints from the cabin site and on trail north of Waumbek summit were excellent today.. 6 degrees with light winds made for beautiful hike. Sadly on the way down came across a pair of real dumbos..get this..using their snowshoes as poles..postholing along and making a mess of what had been a real nice track..small day packs.. one of them had low trailrunners on with no gaiters..all you can do is try to help out but they wanted no part of talking to us....oh well..still a good day out but the trail may be somewhat of a mess tomorrow... |
