Date of Hike
Date of Hike: Saturday, July 14, 2012
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Wild River Road (from Route 113) has reopened. Plenty of parking at hiker lot at campground.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Wet Trail
Recommended Equipment

Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: The suspension bridge from the Wild River Trail to the Highwater Trail and Moriah Brook Trail is still standing and crossable (though we didn't go that way). All other crossings have no bridges. The Wild River crossing was rock hoppable with a leap of faith (water levels pretty low if wading), while all other crossings were easy rock hops at current levels.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Plenty of blowdowns on Black Angel Trail. We took out maybe a dozen minor to moderate ones, but didn't really make a dent.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: A lot of the minor crossings were dry, and there was no water in the upper few miles of trail, so bring some water for the pooches!
Bugs
Bugs: Deer flies all day. A few scattered mosquitoes and black flies as well.

Comments
Comments: Northern section of Wild River Trail has taken a beating - portions resemble a brook bed, while one or two others may have been taken out by the river (there is a herd path at the top of the embankment). Other than getting over a few blowdowns, it's passable, though slower going than one would hope for what would otherwise be a flat, smooth trail.

Black Angel Trail was mostly dry (with a few minor mud patches that probably grow when wet) with plenty of quasi-annoying blowdowns to step over.

Carter-Moriah Trail to the Dome seems a lot more eroded now than I remember a few years ago (haven't been up there much outside of snow season in recent years).
