Comments
Comments: A loop over Washington with a stay at Lakes. Great views heading up Boott Spur/Davis Thursday until Camel trail junction when I hit thick fog. Friday morning started with everything in the clear but clouds rolled in over the northern and southern presis. Boott Spur I think is one of the best routes up from Pinkham - great views once above treeline. Some damp rocks and mud below treeline due to the recent rain. Camel trail had some running water on the trail due to the rain, easy trail to follow even in the fog - I imagine the views would have been terrific. Crawford easy as always.

Decided to descend via Nelson Crag - up top lots of rock hopping and a few steep pitches over Ball Crag to Nelson Crag. Descending off Nelson Crag it is quite steep with a number of fairly challenging rock scrambles. Met a couple that came up Nelson Crag trail from OJR as I was descending off Nelson Crag who warned me that below it only got steeper - they indicated there were a lot of places where they were scramblig up hand over hand. Their advice was to head back up over Nelson Crag cut across and head down Lions head. Thought I'd give it a try but tweaked my knee on one of the more challenging scrambles so for prudence I opted to bail out into the uto road where nelson crag trail came close and meet up with OJR - felt kind of like cheating but I didn't want to do potential knee damage trying to scramble down and s a perk there are some unbelievable views into great gulf from the auto road. Based on my experiences and the info I got from the couple - Nelson Crag may not be the best descent route - though if you like a challenge...
