Comments
Comments: The trails were unbelievably fast today, well packed and wide up to the hut, less wide to the ridge and some blown in snow over well packed up on the ridge. Mt. Kinsman trail looked to be well packed and wide too. If I had known that I would have gone that way; that is a very nice trail. I saw signs of bareboots, microspikes (which is what I used), stabilicers, snowshoes and crampons. I wouldn't want to bareboot down the steep icy sections. Some wind up on the ridge but I put the baclava on only nearing S. Kinsman so I could also enjoy a snack. Great boogie down with microspikes trying to keep up with the mighty tough little dog. Didn't see many people, especially for this set of trails, but Pepper was delighted to meet the very nice couple from Glencliff that we met on the Hancock ridge 3 weeks ago. We also had a couple of dogs great us just past Mt. Kinsman trail on our way back, and then they were gone - no humans seen. Pepper and I appreciate all the people who have packed and sawed on this trail before us this winter. It's in way better shape than it was back at the end of November.
