Hiking Trail Conditions Report
Peaks
Peaks North Kinsman, South Kinsman, NH
Trails
Trails: Lonesome Lake Trail, Fishin' Jimmy Trail, Kinsman Ridge Trail
Date of Hike
Date of Hike: Sunday, June 24, 2012
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: several spots in the lot at 7AM, looks like it may have been crowded earlier, as cars were parked on the grass and along the road. This is a busy place, so plan accordingly
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Wet/Slippery Rock, Mud - Minor/Avoidable, Standing/Running Water on Trail
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Very simple and nice. there is a small cascade on the Fishin' Jimmy to cross over; just be sensible and don't step on mossy wet rocks and you'll be fine
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: 98% excellent, very good signs, no blowdowns. The 2% is the small foot bridge near the beginning of Lonesome Lake trail; could use some attention
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Several friendly ones, all having a good time. Given the wet areas near Lonesome Lake, they WILL get muddy.
Bugs
Bugs: Alpine Assault! None all the way up, then a few black flies on North Kinsman. Then, near the top of South Kinsman, all the black flies came out with a vengeance.

Comments
Comments: Despite the overnight storm, there was not an exessive amount of wet rocks and mud. There is the usual mud near the lake. This was a fantastic day; clear blue skies, beautiful clouds in the afternoon (but not rain clouds). Special treat - seeing a mother moose and her two little ones near Lonesome Lake. #29 #30 for us.
