| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
One large broken stem hung up in some trees with its base in the trail. From around 3000' up there are quite a few water bars that are partially or wholly non-functioning, and there is associated water in and erosion of the trail. I don't know if much of this is post Irene or just my faulty memory, but I was surprised by the degree of erosion in many places. |

| Dog-Related Notes: |
Fun day as Sergeant Pepper let the many new rodent recruits know who's in charge. There's currently many running small drainages or seeps all along the trail, but water should still be brought for the middle and upper sections where there are no brooks. |
|
| Bugs: |
Only a few black flies on the peak; not a problem today. |

| Comments: |
The weather forecast changed our plans, so we went for a quick and pleasant am hike. The forecast was unduly gloomy but a nice hike with good views on top is just fine. There was a class going on at the top. Nice for both of us to visit with Steve again. |
