| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Since the Tramway exit is still closed because of construction, we left a car at Echo Lake and walked down the bike path to the Greenleaf Trail. Spotted the other car at the Basin - no issues there. |

|
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
One large stepover on lower Greenleaf Trail and two on the ridge between Little Haystack and Liberty Springs junction - all will need a chainsaw for removal. Lower Greenleaf Trail below Eagle Cliff where the switchbacks start could use some blazes - a bit tricky to follow in places. Parts of the ridge between Little Haystack and Liberty Springs a bit brushy. Some running water in the trail down low on Liberty Springs - the few waterbars in that section needed some rehabbing. |
|
| Dog-Related Notes: |
Hannah had a fun day - not much water between the hut and the spring by Liberty Springs tentsite, so make sure you (or your pooch) brings some extra |

| Bugs: |
Just a few down low - they're coming ... |

Great day for a ridge traverse. The Greenleaf Trail was new for us and I'd highly recommend it - Eagle Pass gives a unique view to the Cannon cliffs and through the notch. Slushy snow started just past the hut - up to 3-4" in places near the summit but most rocks are clear. Saw the most people and the most wind from halfway up Lafayette to Little Haystack - steady 20-30mph with higher gusts - fewer people and less windy over to Liberty and Flume.
Small patches of lingering monorail headed down from Little Haystack, just below the summit of Liberty and near the col between Liberty and Flume, but all easily navigated around - our spikes didn't leave our packs the whole day. Liberty Springs was mostly dry except for a section with lots running water for a few hundred yards before the junction with Flume Slide Trail.
Great views and plenty of sun all day. Nice to run into Jeremy and Jeb and company on Liberty. Great hike with Ali and Hannah - thanks for another fantastic day! |
