Pretty nice day..the roads are open..what the heck lets do a Double Hit and Run!! After a nice trip to Osceolas we rested and refueled in Lincoln then headed for Zealand Road. Hale Brook trail dry and great footing to the upper crossings. Dramatic switch from dry trail to ice and snow at the crossing and based on morning experience we put on spikes there. More frozen granular with some blue ice to the summit but the spikes let us move a lot faster. Couple of nice viewpoints through blowdown patches on the way up but the summit gets more and more viewless every year as the trees ringing the summit clearing continue to grow. Quick descent with wonderful views of glowing Presis along the way. Thanks Ali for a GREAT Double Hit and Run!!! |
