| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Gale River Road is open and in good shape. We were the only car in the parking lot. |
|
| Surface Conditions: |
Wet Trail, Wet/Slippery Rock, Snow - Wet/Sticky, Snow/Ice - Monorail (Stable), Mud - Significant, Snow/Ice - Monorail (Unstable), Standing/Running Water on Trail, Snow/Ice - Frozen Granular, Snow - Trace/Minimal Depth, Snow - Spring Snow |
|
| Recommended Equipment: |
Light Traction |
|
| Water Crossing Notes: |
north Branch of the Gale R. was running fast and furious and the crossings were difficult and required getting boots in a little water. On the way back we crossed the snowmobile bridge after the first crossing and bushwacked down the side of the river to the trail. Much easier than crossing the river |
|
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
no blowdowns but certainly drainage was an issue as probably half of the trail was a running brook and lots of mud in between. |

| Comments: |
started out in a heavy shower but soon took off the rain pants and a layer. The sun came out for 5 min. then it would rain again then it turned to sleet and finally snow probably covering the ground around 3000'.
at least it gave some traction on the ice and monorail. We put on microspikes when the snow covered everything and you couldn't tell where the ice was. The Garfield ridge trail to the top had a lot of snow which actually made it easier to climb than the bare boulders and ledge would have beenVery windy and icy on top but the clouds did lift a little while we were there so we were rewarded with some views. |
