Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: All crossings bridged or otherwise hoppable. Due to leaf litter, some lower crossings are in expert mode currently as the leaves hide the mud, or puddles
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: The sign at the junction of Asquam Ridge and Beaver Brook has snapped off at the bottom of the post, and will need to be redug and reset. The post may still be viable, but may be worth doing it right with a new one. It was on the ground when we found it but attempted to fix it - especially before snow and it's stuck facing the wrong way. DOC appears to have taken a page from nordic_gal's playbook and is working their way down from treeline brushing Beaver Brook, a very wide swath that avoids future heartaches and will not require it for many years to come!

Comments: A TERRIFYING day in the forest was had! We departed the wind tunnel known as Kinsman Notch around 8 and made great time. It's been a long time since I had been on this trail and I forgot how really pretty it is. Don't tell the AMC, they will reroute it away from the water and add 1000 switchbacks and even more steps! I will admit though, there are other ways I'd prefer my legs to quiver than doing about 1900 vert in 1.4 miles, but that's another story. Leaf litter and fall gave way to patchy black ice on rocks and roots around 3500. Around 4000, we encountered mostly rime ice falling off the trees and upslope snow flurries that amounted to decorative powdered sugar. Winds were spicy most of the day, but nothing really out of the ordinary for Moosilauke. We past a gentlemen heading down about at treeline that said he was getting readings at 30+ MPH when I asked as I saw him putting away his anemometer, which made sense as soon as you hit treeline you got blasted. Quick summit picture and back to the protection of the trees. Hit Mt. Blue on the way out just because. An incredibly well defined serpentine herd path that only goes about 600' on a bearing, but probably is 1/4 mile because whoever initially set this was allergic to going straight. About a dozen people out on BB, including one group of guys in shorts and no packs. Also, I could not figure out why Chris was using his fingers to count, but he tells me there are 133 manmade steps, so wow your friends with that piece of data!
