Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: The crossing of Garfield Stream was easy on rocks. Water levels were not high. All other crossings are minor.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: There are no obstructions on the trails. Evergreen limbs have been trimmed and some tree cuts on the Frost Trail have created a wide passageway. As has been the case for many years, some log bridges on the Gale River Trail have lost a log or are missing all logs for part of the span. One damaged bridge is in the relocated trail section and two others are just uphill from the upper junction of the relocation with the original trail. The damaged bridges cause no problem with passage.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Fine for dogs. None today.
Bugs
Bugs: None

Comments
Comments: Most of the trail surfaces are dry. Some of the usual wet stretches are dry today. There were some small mud spots most notably down low on the Frost Trail.
There was a lot of dry leaves on the Gale River Trail up to where the relocated trail starts.
No ice or snow on the trails.
Only met three other hikers.
Some good views from the closed hut, the outlook part way up Galehead Mountain, and at an open spot just off from the summit. The summit is marked with a cairn.
