Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: I was the first car in the lot at 7:30am. There were a few more upon my return but lost of room for more.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable, Leaves - Significant/Slippery
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: I used the old trail so there were the 3 small crossings. The first one did require me to use a few slightly submerged rocks. Maybe if my legs were longer I could have used all dry rocks but that ain't happening. My feet did stay dry so I must have chosen wisely. The other 2 crossings were super easy.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: There are still a few stepovers and that one duck under down low. The trail is in really nice shape.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: No puppers seen today. :( This is a good route for doggos - it's just a long day. Bring plenty of water for them.
Bugs
Bugs: I inhaled one today. Other than that they weren't around much. Leave it to me to find the only bug out there.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: I hit the lost and found bonanza today. #1 a partially eaten and still in the wrapper Quaker chocolate chip granola bar. Given that I didn't know the owner and had plenty of snacks, I packed it out without sampling. #2 a soft water bottle thing with a carabiner. According to the information on the back you can attach a filter to it but there was no filter in it. Please reach out if this is yours and I will get it back to you. #3 2 painted rocks. I found both on the summit and they were made by the same person. This makes 5 of these that I have found now by this person. They are quite the artist but LNT people. I have a dedicated shelf for them and at the rate I am finding them, I am going to need a bigger shelf.

Comments
Comments: Since the weather up high was going to be windy I opted for a more sheltered hike to check off a few boxes. Carrigain is woefully behind on G2 and I am trying to remedy that. She has 4 months done now so I am making progress. The road walk was very pleasant - breezy and leaf strewn and a nice warm up. Signal Ridge down low has plenty of leaves that are deep in some areas but that section isn't too rocky so you can still move kind of fast. Up higher where it starts to pick up elevation the leaves are a pain. Deep enough to hide the rocks and make footing tedious. Once you hit misery mile the leaves start to ease up and you can find the rocks again. Everything was nice and dry and there is no ice at all. The tower was gloriously windy with views for days. I only saw 2 other folks out there today. It was a lovely day to putter around the woods and find lost stuff and eat lots of snacks.
