Beautiful approach in via Livermore Trail and Scaur Ridge with great footing and moderate grades. Light snow and ice on Pine Bend Brook Trail makes this the route up this time of year v. the North Slide ascent. Some light traction would be helpful on couple of section Pine Bend Brook, but I managed without it. Hike over to South Tripyramid has limited views; only real views are from South Slide. South Slide descent requires care but is dry. Once you are off slide, remaining walk back to Livermore has great footing though there are a lot of leaves on trail which can make some muddy sections harder to detect. Avalanche Brook crossing right before returning to Livermore is running a bit high and wide so be ready for some quick hops to avoid getting wet. Saw ~20 hikers on this route, most of whom were just going out and back to Middle Tripyramid; only saw a handful on South Slide portion. |
