OK, I came here because I was hoping to see some of the larger black gum trees but didn't do enough homework. I erroneously assumed AI was right in telling me where to look and so when I could not find them near the beaver pond, I eventually gave up. When I got home, I found my Big Trees of NH book and determined I needed to bushwhack FAR off-trail. Regardless, it is a beautiful area. What you can see of the piggery from the trail is quite interesting. The trail coincides at times with the old farm's sulky/harness racing loop which is pretty cool to see. In the woods there are other interesting things like an old truck chassis and iron bedframe. Just so much to explore and still beautiful colors. I did over 4 miles and really enjoyed it. Trails are pretty level - I think some of it is considered wheelchair accessible. |
