 | Comments: |
Standard fall conditions below treeline, with a bit of black ice and cool air, but above treeline, particularly above 5,000 feet or so, winter made an appearance! Snow and rime ice all over the mountain, with more of it on north-facing slopes. Changed into full winter layers with goggles due to strong winds knocking the wind chill down to low single-digits. I even wore microspikes (beater spikes- still too bony to wear the good ones) for a good chunk of the above-treeline portion.
Great day on the Rockpile on some lesser-used trails. Even saw a bear while hiking down the Alpine Garden Trail! |
