A beautiful day to trek out and finally get Isolation! Glen Boulder trail is in great shape and easy to follow even in the scrambly parts. The fog cleared as soon as I got to the boulder and I had stellar foliage views for the rest of the day. Can't stress enough how magical the (many!) sections above the treeline are. I imagine this hike was significantly less mobbed than other parts of the Whites today, but I did see several people on the way up and at the summit- more than I was expecting for this less trafficked hike. Trail was pretty dry until I went back below the trees on Davis heading out to Iso, and became significantly muddy from the Dry River trail intersection onwards. Planks and branches helpfully lining the trail will not keep your boots dry, but they will keep them from getting fully submerged in mud. Many friendly grey jays at the summit. |
