Comments
Comments: An absolutely glorious day for a hike. We weren't sure what conditions would be up top, so Scott and I both packed for our fears (spikes, puffer, extra hats and gloves) and were happy to need little more than light gloves and hats. The trails were jam packed as expected, so we escaped to alternate routes where ever possible - down the back side of Monroe to Crawford, across Tuckerman cutoff to an empty Bigelow Lawn, etc. All the extras only added about a mile and made the day much, much better.
The summit was crawling with the expected Mass and Quebec contingencies, so it was a quick tap of the summit cairn and fast shuffle down the cog. If you ever want to feel like a star, have 6 rail cars pass you in the matter of about 8 minutes. Now I know how moose feel when we pull over and stare at them.
