Roads are in really great shape. The first mile or so has just a couple potholes, easily avoidable. There is one culvert that looks to be repaired, but still is one you don't want to hit full blast 0.1 miles from tower road. There should be no issues for any vehicles to reach the trailhead. |

Don't forsee any issue aside from the view spur you'd definitely want them leashed, its a diving board dropoff. Unless your dog is wearing one of those flying squirrel suits |

A FINE day in the forest was had. The drive is quite enervating, but there is the absolute Taj Mahal of pit toilets that awaits for you to defecate. It even has laminate flooring. I felt like Scrooge McDuck diving into a pool of coins, so fancy, so ritzy. Five pounds lighter and brimming with a new found vigor, we departed up Coot in the rain. Because it always rains in Pittsburg. It's amazing. It can be sunny the entire ride up, but the prozac rock cloud hangs above this place. Anyway, we made the summit in about 25 minutes, nothing to see but the commanding views of the inside of a golf ball. We hit all the spurs as well - neither of us want to come back. We descended Bobcat in what felt like expert mode due to the rain, steepness, and slickness. A couple of baby giraffes learning to walk. We ended up completing Coot and walking up the road a hair and then departing into the woods with a bearing towards West. The thinking was we'd rather go at it then side contour back and forth. If you like hobblebush and juvenile beeches, mylanta, you're going to love this area, oh and its also pretty wet in here. Theres on again, off again herd /game and logging cuts. Moving isn't much of a challenge but your watch will likely register you doing the breast stroke instead of hiking. Out and back, about a mile RT, in an hour. |
